History Established in 2005. After many years of practicing eye disease and surgical co-management with local ophthalmologists, Dr. Riaz Ahmed opened this full service clinic in the same medical centre in which the surgeries were performed. This clinic was envisioned as a one-stop comprehensive eye care facility for eye examinations, disease management, post-operative care, contact lenses and eyeglasses. It has now grown to be one of the largest contact lens clinics in Calgary. The recent 1000 foot expansion has brought in more space for treatment rooms, and an even better selection of the high-fashion designer eyewear and sunglasses it has long been known for. Meet the Business Owner Dr. Riaz A. Dr. Riaz A. Business Owner Dr. Ahmed has over 15 years of experience in eye disease management and primary clinical eye care. Having graduated from the University of Alberta in 1993 with a Gold Medal for highest mark in the faculty of Science, Dr. Ahmed went on to the University of Waterloo to obtain a degree in Optometry. He did an Ocular Disease externship at the Barnet-Dulaney Eye Care Center in Phoenix, Arizona, where he developed a passion for the medical side of the profession. Once again graduating top of the faculty, Dr. Ahmed decided to move back to Alberta and put his skills to work in a medical setting. He has been working closely with anterior segment and retinal surgeons since his graduation and has also lectured nationally on eye disease. Dr. Ahmed is also President-Elect of the Alberta Association of Optometrists.
